A journey into the youth of the actress Yüksel Esen. With a moving solo evening, she tells of becoming a woman and being a woman against the background of her overlapping cultures of origin. In tragicomic passages she describes the discovery of her gender, disarming the absurdity of the rules and norms that Swiss-Turkish culture constantly tries to teach her. With her autobiographical performance, Yüksel Esen finds profound, self-empowering and always humorous tones to confront the impositions of life.

TRIGGER WARNING

The jury's feedback:

"Yüksel Esen inspires with a captivating autobiographical performance. Sensual, humorous and differentiated, she tells of her origins and her departure as a young woman. In her first solo evening "Und dann war ich nicht mehr" the Basel actress switches with ease between reflection and parody, dance and direct dialogue with her audience. The energy and honesty with which she exposes herself to many contradictions surprises and touches."
